SHORT DESCRIPTION OF RESEARCH ACTIVITY
The main activity of the dermatologists working in our Department is the diagnosis and therapy of severe skin diseases such as atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis and autoimmune blistering diseases, as well as connective tissue diseases. We are highly experienced in the biological therapy of moderate and severe plaque psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis. Our Department houses a modern phototherapy unit where we treat patients with narrow band UVB, PUVA and Re-PUVA therapy.

DEPARTMENTAL ACHIEVEMENTS: PROJECTS AND PAPERS

Research grants are being conducted:
1/Project of National Science Centre: “Genetic and environments factors of individual response to phototherapy in psoriatic patients in a Polish population” (2012/05/B/NZ5/01885)
2/Project of National Science Centre: “Molecular mechanism of ultraviolet radiation in initiation of skin photocancerogenesis” (NCN UMO-2013/11/B/NZ5/00037)

Department of Dermatology organizes multiple courses for residents in dermatology on photobiology and pediatric dermatology.

Department of Dermatology is the main Organizer of various scientific congresses such as “Andrzejki Dermatologiczne”, “Zjazd Dermatologów Wojskowych” and “Hot Topics in Dermatology”.

Clinic staff are the authors or coauthors of many publications:
1.   Lesions on the back of hands and female gender predispose to stigmatization in patients with psoriasis.
2.   Genetic polymorphism of CYP2D6 in patients with systemic lupus erythematosus and systemic sclerosis
