New academic year 2018/2019 inauguration
New academic year 2018/2019 was inaugurated at Medical University of Lodz.
Auditorium 1000 of Medical University Didactic Centre was full to the brim with first-year students as well as academic teachers, researchers and administrative staff.
This year’s guests of honour included: Karol Młynarczyk, Vice Governor of Lodz, Hanna Zdanowska, the Mayor of Lodz; dr Paweł Czekalski, President of Regional Chamber of Physicians; Mateusz Kowalczyk, Secretary of Regional Chamber of Physicians MPs, Rectors of local universities, representatives of the Ministry of National Defence, the General Staff of Polish Armed Forces and Military Centre for Medical Education.
New students took the formal university oath which was followed by the matriculation ceremony attended by the representatives of each faculty.
Prof. Radzisław Kordek, Rector of MUL, in his inauguration speech, described the current situation of our University and delineated its plans of further development.
The inauguration lecture on ‘ From avoidance of allergens to creation of tolerance: changing the paradigm in allergology’ was given by Prof. Marek Kowalski, Head of the Chair of Clinical Immunology and Rheumatology of MUL
On behalf of Jarosław Gowin, the Prime Minister, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, Włodzimierz Fisiak, Chancellor of Lodz University of Technology handed a symbolic cheque down to MUL: treasury bonds to finance further investments. .
This year’s retirees-to-be were thanked for their years of their work and commitment to Medical University of Lodz.
The Rector also congratulated the winners and finalists of contests as well as the participants of the mentor programme ‘Kumpel’, who are beginning their education at MUL on 1st October 2018.
The ceremony was exquisitely complemented with a unique performance by the University Choir, led by Prof. Anna Domańska.
