Projekt SCOPE Project reaches finishing line
European projects SCOPE is drawing to a close.
EC Grant Agreement n. 634869 (SCOPE)
European Project SCOPE Screening for Chronic Kidney Disease among Older People across Europe has been implemented since 2015 under the direction of prof. Tomas Kostka at the Clinic of Geriatrics. The project prime goal was the assessment of chronic kidney disease (CKD) prevalence in a population of older patients, aged 75 years or more.
The SCOPE study is an observational, multicenter, prospective cohort study which was carried out in 7 European Countries and included a total of 2426 people, 354 of whom were from Poland. Currently, the third and the last stage of the study is being conducted at the Clinic of Geriatrics. The SCOPE data base is designed and it will encompass the results of screening tests based on Comprehensive Geriatric Assessment (CGA) and the analyses of biological samples collected at baseline and in a 2-year follow-up. The SCOPE Study will prove the significance of commonly used screening programmes and CKD prevention as well as indicating new potentially useful biomarkers, which will facilitate decision making in health care.
The SCOPE project also involves a series of training sessions for students on physiological changes occuring in kidneys with age as well as on diagnostic procedures applied in chronic kidney disease.
