Lodz province authorities established cooperation with the Medical University of Lodz to implement the project ‘Blood cells analysis in prediction of severe COVID-19 infection: assessment of SARS-CoV-2 enzymes activity with mass cytometry’. Research team headed by Prof. Wojciech Młynarski from the Department of Paediatrics, Oncology and Haematology received the funds of nearly half a million PLN to continue their research.

Lodz researchers in collaboration with Wroclaw University of  Science and Technology (the team of Prof. Marcin Drąg) focused on the investigation of viral enzymes responsible for COVID-19 infection. The outcomes are truly promising and have recently been published in a prestigious scientific journal, Nature Chemical Biology.

The obtained funds will not only contribute to more accurate diagnosis but also to more effective treatment of severe cases of COVID-19.
