Breakthrough in Brexit negotiations and implications for universities
We kindly inform that UK will continue to be a part of Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+ until the end of the programmes.
The UK Government and the EU negotiators have come to an agreement on phase one of the negotiations on the UK’s exit from the European Union. This agreement details that “the UK will continue to participate in the Union programmes financed by the EU budget 2014-2020 until their closure”.
This means that UK universities, students and researchers will continue to be able to participate in incredibly valuable programmes such as Horizon 2020 and Erasmus+ until their end dates. In addition, the eligibility to apply to participate in these programmes, for UK participants and projects, will be unaffected by the UK’s withdrawal from the Union. The agreement also ensures that the 46,000 other EU nationals working across the university sector can remain in the UK indefinitely.
