On September 27-28, 2018, the Medical University of Lodz hosted the Lean Higher Education scientific and practical seminar entitled The brightness and shadows of the implementation of the process approach in universities. It was already the fourth in a series of meetings devoted to process restructuring by means of process concepts, including Lean Management, intended for university employees. Invitation to the conference was accepted by Dr. Adam Niedzielski, Vice President of the National Health Fund.

The meeting was opened by Jacek Grabowski, Chancellor of the Medical University of Lodz, who underlined in his speech that the Law on Higher Education and Science poses new challenges in the management of universities, and the experience of Polish and foreign universities shows that the use of a process approach allows for effective restructuring thereby making higher education institutions a more friendly place to learn, work and build relationships. The participants of the meeting discussed the organizational, technical and cultural aspects of the implementation of the process approach, and they shared their own experiences and analyzed case studies during the workshops.

The seminar was organised in cooperation with the Jagiellonian University and the list of participants included the representatives of medical, technical and artistic universities from all over Poland.
