Medical University of Lodz has joined the ranks of partners in ‘Epidemiology of Ageing and Dementia Prevention, PhD Label’ programme.

Epidemiology of Ageing and Dementia Prevention, PhD Label is a pan-European collaboration of EIT Health academic and non-academic partners working to train a new generation of PhD specialists in gerontology, neuroscience and epidemiology while giving them solid innovation and entrepreneurship competencies. The project will be implemented in 2020-2023 and it is coordinated by University of Coimbra.

The consortium includes accredited PhD programmes at over a dozen European universities of solid and internationally acknowledged scientific competence in the relevant research areas and recorded competence in top-ranked postgraduate training. In pursuance of excellence in research, the programme is complemented with innovation and entrepreneurship training as well as cooperation with EIT Health network, including business incubators. Postgraduate students will also be involved in international mobility and co-mentorship of each PhD thesis in universities, hospitals and companies. The programme fosters competence-based and student-centred learning by doing and the triangle of knowledge integration aimed at healthy lifestyle promotion and creation of future businesses. Interdisciplinary and cross-sectional design of the programme will provide students with easy access to big data obtained from early diagnosis, personalised health, population ageing, bioimaging, genetics, epigenetics, social profiling, health care systems and resource optimisation. Innovation, entrepreneurship and business skills will be offered by the project in order to enhance business opportunities created by the available and innovative data bases.
