NEW ACADEMIC YEAR INAUGURATION AT MUL
New academic year has been inaugurated at Medical University of Lodz on 1 October.
The ceremony was held at Aula 1000 of MUL Didactic Centre which, due to pandemic, hosted the representatives of doctoral students, first-year students as well as the representatives of academic and administrative staff.
This year’s guests of honour included among others:
- Advisor to the President of the Republic of Poland, Łukasz Rzepecki,
- Undersecretary of State at the Ministry of Health, Piotr Bromber,
- Governor of the Province of Lodz, Tobiasz Bocheński,
- Chairman of the City Council of Lodz, Marcin Gołaszewski,
- Vice President of Lodz, Adam Pustelnik,
- Vice President of Lodz, Joanna Skrzydlewska,
- President of Regional Chamber of Physicians of Lodz, Mateusz Kowalczyk,
As well as Rectors of Lodz Universities, delegates of the Ministry of National Defence, the General Staff of Polish Armed Forces and Military Centre for Medical Education.
During the ceremony, state and university decorations were presented to distinguished employees of the University. Freshmen year and PhD students took the formal university oath which was followed by the matriculation ceremony.
In his inauguration speech, Prof. Radzisław Kordek, Rector of Medical University of Lodz, discussed current situation of our university and plans of its further development.
The inauguration lecture on ‘Biologics: the bright and dark sides’ was given by prof. Joanna Makowska, Head of the Department of Rheumatology, Medical University of Lodz.
As usual, the ceremony was exquisitely complemented with a performance by the University Choir, led by Prof. Anna Domańska.
