Lodz Academic Partnership 

Declaration of closer cooperation between Lodz public universities within Lodz Academic Partnership was signed on 29 November 2022 in the Academy of Music in Lodz.

The declaration was signed by:

• Elżbieta Aleksandrowicz PhD, Rector of the Academy of Music in Lodz
• Milenia Fiedler PhD, Rector of Leon Schiller National School of Film, Television and Theatre
• Krzysztof Jóźwik PhD, Rector of Technical University of Lodz
• Radzisław Kordek MD PhD, Rector of the Medical University of Lodz
• Przemysław Wachowski PhD, Rector of Lodz Academy of Fine Arts
• Elżbieta Żądzińska PhD, Rector of the University of Lodz

The prime assumption of the declaration is to build the identity of Lodz via the academic community. It is the universities’ activity that is to propel the civilisation and technological progress which significantly affects the development of culture and the position of the city and its region in the national and international theatre.

Lodz Academic Partnership, which combines the leading academic centres of our city: the Academy of Music in Lodz, Lodz Academy of Fine Arts, Leon Schiller National School of Film, Television and Theatre, Technical University of Lodz, the University of Lodz the Medical University of Lodz shall strengthen the voice and the role of the universities in public debates via their influential nature, shaping the attitudes, and combining what is unique to each academic institution.

Each university’s competences are different and unique so the race to prove which one is better, more important or more necessary is pointless. The use of specific competences to establish joint research teams which are our strength should unite us and guide our activities, emphasised  prof. Radzisław Kordek.  The Universities and Academies of Lodz  constitute unity. We cannot build walls around us and separate our  academism. We can develop only through the development of the other partners, let us not treat one another as competition, let us act together, he added.

Thanks to variety, interdisciplinary approach and openness, the initiatives undertaken by Lodz Academic Partnership are meant to contribute to even more effective collaboration with institutional and business environment, which is also supposed to increase the academic potential of Lodz.

The meeting was accompanied by a debate on the establishment of Lodz Academic Agreement, the demonstration of Lodz Academy potential and further benefits from a strengthened collaboration with Lodz universities. The Rectors discussed previous achievements of the collaboration and delineated new areas for cooperation.

The performance by the musicians of Lodz Academy was an artistic compliment to the event.
